On Sunday, July 14th, National Council of Jewish Women South Cook Section, will present the 12th annual Southland Community Garden Walk. It will be held from 10 am to 4 pm, RAIN or SHINE.
In celebration of Flossmoor's 100th anniversary, six gardens are in Flossmoor. There is an additional garden in Homewood. The Gardens provide ideas that might work in your yard. Some of the gardens are large, some are small, and some are formal. Some gardens have water features, oriental themes, hardscaping, edibles, with some perennials and annuals. This year, all are designed by the gardeners themselves. A common factor is that all the gardens and their communities are loved by their owners. These owners take enormous pride in the beauty they have created, and they are delighted to share the fruits of their labor with you!
A new feature this year is the 7 mile Garden Walk/Jog/Bike loop trail starting and ending at Goldberg Park. With your ticket purchase a QR scan will upload the free
RidewithGPS app, provided by Goodspeed Cycle, showing your real time movement on the route with audible turn-by-turn cues. Be kind to the environment: leave your car at home or at Goldberg Park and Walk, Jog, or Bike through beautiful Flossmoor and Homewood. Cool water and insect spray will be provided at each garden along with a Garden docent to answer questions and provide tips.
